Not sure what happened in 2018 looks like lot of people got bad or bootleg ones just wanted to leave a few pics and state the jet black one recommended by amazon is legit.Matches my Day 1 PS4 controller . Control sticks are tight as they should be , touchpad doesnt make weird loud clicking noises others said theirs did. and the SONY on back of controller you can see is clear an perfectly center also where the charging cable goes it straight perfect ive seen others where the port was at weird angles.Anyway i can only speak for this Jet Black and shipped from Amazon not another seller is good so grab it if you need another its the official one.
Ok so there appear to be fake controllers with varying features but there is 1 sure way to tell that I've noticed. Notice my picture where the sticker on the back says "Sony Interactive Entertainment". Both my 2 year old black one and the new one say this. The fake controllers will say "Sony Computer Entertainment". Sony changed their name from that years ago. There are also other differences on the sticker but that's the sure sign. This new controller does feel lighter than my older black one and the sticker is different than mine, which came with the console but I am certain it's real. If there are crazy discontinued colors like the Berry Blue DS4 then you are most likely getting a counterfeit one.When it comes to buying peripherals for a console, such as this Dual Shock 4, you should try to stick with 1st party products. I've never had a bad experience buying original Sony PS4 accessories. This DS4 is sharp looking, the buttons have a great tactile feel, it has excellent battery life (24+ hours) and the analog sticks have great motion and feel good. To pair with the console simply connect a USB cable, any kind will do but try not to charge it with any cable more powerful than 1 amp. I bought this one to replace the original that came with my console about 3 years ago as it started to have some drift. I love the blue color and much prefer it to my original black one. Not much else to say, it's a great controller and does what it's supposed to do. No complaints.
I just got my new ZCT2U model gold PS4 controller today. I can’t tell you if it’s real or not, but I can describe everything for you.The triggers, analog sticks, D-pad, and buttons are grey. While the touchpad looks to be black. The touchpad has the light shining through so at least it is the second model. There is audible sound of clicking when pressing the analog sticks and buttons which I compared to my MK1 controllers and they are not quite the same, I don’t know if because its new compared to my two others. The sticker info on the black has more info than the MK1. Where the two shells of the controller meet are rough difference there. The new one looks just a bit bigger grip wise to my other two.So my white one (MK1) lasted for about two years it is also the one that came with my Destiny themed PS4 in 2016/17 (don’t at me it, uncle was selling it for 200). Until it couldn’t hold a charge and the left analog stick gave out. So don’t be surprised when the analog sticks break because they weren’t made like they used to be. Or when it can’t hold charge due to the battery giving out.F.Y.I If you think this a bot. I currently got 8 platinums, 38 golds, 116 silvers, and 709 bronzes across 18 games with a Level 12 for my account. Favorite games Uncharted series, Dishonored 1, and Witcher 3. Most recent games Spider-Man and GOW (2018). My ultra rarest trophy was a bronze in Dishonored’s Dunwall City Trials DLC called Time Management at 9/8/2018 at 1:44 A.M. with a 0.1% on the rarity scale.-Thanks for reading, make wise shopping choices. There is absolutely nothing fake about this controller at all. If the units the other reviewers received really we're fakes, then they received a different one than the one I did. This looks like an authentic controller, feels like an authentic controller, and plays like an authentic controller. All the buttons, the sensitivity of the buttons, and the weight of the controller feel exactly the same as the controller that came with my PS4 Pro. There are no mismatching model numbers or anything else that leads me to believe that this is a fake. I really do not understand why the other reviewers were under that impression.
First time using these second generation controllers. They definitely don't disappoint! The matte texture definitely gives you a better grip! I like the little added light bar. Gives it a nice little touch without bothering you during games.
I have definitely seen multiple improvements with these new PS4 controllers over the older ones. The battery lasts a lot longer, the thumbsticks are more rugged and have a better grip on them, L2 and R2 buttons are more springy (a good thing), and the thumbsticks also feel way smoother when moving them around. Other things I have noticed is that the buttons are now grey like the throwback controller and there is now a light on the touchpad. Although the last gen controllers are still pretty good, I would definitely recommend the new gen controllers for only $10 more.Update: 12/4/17 This controller still functions as if it were new, even with heavy use which includes me dropping it on multiple occasions. It has outlasted three gen 1 controllers. Bravo Sony!Update 7/11/2018 controller still functions great!
I finally wore out my OG PS4 controller. I had left joystick drift issues and poor trigger feel in certain games. A while back I changed the joysticks to metal ones that had interchangeable stick lengths also.Once I broke down and bought the new one, I noticed several changes...Triggers are smooth; there is an internal redesign that makes their action more secure and reliable.Joysticks are comfortable, and I'm not missing the extended height of my previous joystick mod.It just works.There are a number of reviews that are unhappy with the controller on Amazon... my guess is that a fair number of people ended up with fake controllers. Watch who the seller is (even Amazon isn't perfect), and test your controller hard right away. You'll know inside of 6-8 hours of use if it feels legit.
First let me reinforce... you get what you pay for. Knock-offs have less battery life, less durability, poor connection, you already know this. pay the extra 20 bucks. it's not worth the painOwned about 6 playstation-brand controllers over the last couple years. not sure why this one is different. Pairs faster, battery lasts longer; i won't even let my kids use it. This one is mine. Go play with your booger-encrusted, slimeball controllers, leave my pristine controller alone.They use it when i'm not looking. Now the X button is sticky. I can't stand sticky controller. Now i've got to buy another controller. 10/10 will probably need to buy again
I've been struggling to play Final Fantasy 14 with my family. My wife and in laws are on PS4s, and I am on a Windows 10 PC. My BIL suggested I try a Dualshock 4 controller. I wanted one that would work via bluetooth and the cheap knockoffs don't seem to work with Bluetooth according to the MFGs.Sony has made top notch stuff for decades, and this is no exception.One thing to note, Bluetooth function REQUIRES your PC has bluetooth support. I bought a USB Bluetooth dongle from Amazon for next to nothing to add the support to my desktop since my cheap laptop doesn't have a GPU enough to support my games and is only good for work stuff.Bluetooth pairing was quick and easy, Gameplay using the controller on FFXIV has been fantastic. MUCH better than struggling with the keyboard so far.I should mention I insisted on a NEW item, not a refurb. I got this from the Amazon seller Averys Warehouse. I ordered on July 3 during COVID, and it arrived on July 7. It was priced along the same as refurbs, but is 100% new in box. I can't say enough good about these folks. Hopefully will be able to do business with them again.Long story short. VERY happy with the controller, and the seller.
Like many people, I experienced a dead pack-in controller and needed a replacement. I suspect there's something to that - the console controller may skimp on quality in some of its versions. But these add-on controllers have been perfect so far. Overall I think this is the best DualShock in history, although I do think it makes some steps backward.Pros:-Unlike the Xbox equivalent, the Sony DualShock puts the D-Pad first. This is great for some genres, such as fighting games. It's potentially less good for others, such as shooters. Overall though, the Dual-Shock definitely has one of the better d-pads among its competitors.-Triggers are shaped correctly. Sony shaped its triggers backward on previous controllers, so when you pulled, the controller could squirt out of your hands. Now the triggers are shaped correctly, fixing this longstanding issue.-Battery life is good-but-not-great. I can easily get a day's play on one charge, but it does have to be recharged daily. Avid gamers might actually need some extra controllers charging all the time just to keep up.Cons:-Battery cannot be replaced under warranty. Sony hopes you'll throw the controller in the garbage and buy a new one. It's fairly simple to change the battery is you have basic tools (drivers and spadgers), but Sony would still prefer you to spend more with them than service yourself.-The touchscreen is a gimmick. It doesn't get used in almost any game I play, nor would I want it to be.-The on-controller speaker is a gimmick. Annoyingly, there is no universal way to switch this off. Many games, such as "Project CARS", play certain sounds on the controller at a constant volume no matter how your TV is set. That's really dumb. The only way to fix this is to use a headset with your controller, which I don't bother to do, so I just try to avoid games with this annoying feature.-The light on the front of the controller is mostly annoying to me. It lights up my room when I'm playing at night, which is just annoying in most games. I went into the menu and turned the light to its minimum setting, so now I never notice that it exists except for that moment when I look to see if the controller turned on.-The "Share" and "Option" buttons are very poorly placed. You need to wedge your thumb into the nook of the controller, and many games put an important menu on the Options button, so you have to access it all the time. That's really annoying. I'd rather have these buttons on the face of the controller, than have the buttons so hard to access.Overall:This controller has some serious flaws, but considering the pluses - like the correctly shaped triggers - I'd still say it's one of the better DualShock controllers ever made. Definitely worth an upgrade for anyone - even PC users - looking for a great controller.
Sony always has the best controller ergonomically by far! I use this to game on my laptop with Steam. Works perfectly including the dual shock (enable beta mode in Steam and install PS4 Now on PC to get both PS3 controller and PS4 controller to work)! The only thing I have not been able to implement is the use of the center buttons/touch control, but that makes sense since this is supposed to be for a PS4. The battery lasts for a pretty long time. I charge it about once a week. When compared to the PS3 controller, the joysticks have a very slight bit more pushback which is good because it prevents them from being overly sensitive (PS3 controller joysticks were slightly over-sensitive). Overall, I love it!
Classic. Flawless. The best controller for gaming so far, and I'm quite happy with my X-Box ones. This thing is just well made. IMHO the d-pad is far superior to the X-Box style d-pads. Links up easy to my Steam Link for couch gaming. Got a bluetooth dongle for my PC and it's just not so great at all with that which is a shame, but I'm wondering if that's just an issue with the dongle itself so I won't attribute that to the controller. Plug it in and it works just fine. This controller is so nice to use I actually get excited to play games with it.Only Con: This is mainly user error, but if you flick the stick a direction to move and it snaps back to center it will tend to flip your character around opposite the direction you intended to face because the spring or whatever's in there is a bit tight. You want tight controls, but not so much that it will go past neutral position if you flick the analogue stick a certain direction.
I wanted a bluetooth game controller that works with the Fire TV Stick 4K. The normal Amazon controller does not work as it does not support bluetooth. I took a chance on the DualShock 4 controller instead.Pairing the controller with the Fire TV Stick was very smooth and very fast. Enter the Fire TV Stick Settings, Controllers & Bluetooth Devices, Game Controllers. Select Add New Game Controller then press and hold the Playstation button and the sharing button at the same time. Instant pairing, very impressive.I ran the controller through all the tests and checks to make sure it wasn't a fake. It passed it all, down to the weight of 220g.My first impression of the controller is that the build quality is great, all of the controls (d-pad, analog sticks etc) feels good, not too loose and not too stiff.Highly recommended.
I really think Sony's Dual-Shock 4 is a great controller for a lot of reasons. I've been an avid gamer, my whole life, and I've grown to appreciate something that's ergonomic, light, and responsive to my input.There's a couple of minor gripes I have with it, but overall, I believe the good far outweigh the bad.I love the touch-pad. It's a great example of a multi-use feature and it doubles as an extra button, which comes in handy as I, as well as the rest of hardcore gamers, I'm sure, can appreciate having another input to utilize for games that necessitate it.The speaker doesn't really add anything to the deal for me because, generally, I wear headphones when I game so I can't hear the sound emanating from it when I play games that take advantage of the functionality.But when I wear headphones from time to time the sound pops and crackles on occasion. The only thing that seems to fix this is when I plug the controller into the system, then the sound is fine.That sole caveat aside, I like everything about the Dual-Shock 4. And that's about all there is to say.
Bought new, from J.F.J, fulfilled by amazon, at about $95.Read all the reviews about fake controllers and knew the gamble I was taking. Got the controller and did all the preliminary checks, every word on the box, every button on the controller and edge on the shell. Ran the test to charge the controller and check for the usual light bar behavior, it checked out. Also tested the weight and got a nice authentic 220g reading. Only thing I haven't done is open it up and inspect the board, but I'm convinced either this is the real deal or the best darn knockoff ever produced on the planet.It looks like real ones are still out there, and from what I can tell at least this seller is trustworthy, or at least trying to be. It's possible there are counterfeit products slipping into reputable sellers' stocks undetected or uncaught. I'll update this if anything suddenly dies on me or I end up needing to take a look inside at the board itself.

I like the controller overall. The wider frame fits the hand well. The features I could do without are the speaker, touchpad, and the big light in the front. The sticks are a lil small and the triggers need to be angled upward more. Lastly the battery just does not last. Both during extended use and the battery degrades over time. By far the weakest link of this controller. The speaker too. Most off the time I hear it I'm like " what the heck is that squeaking!?" Lastly the triggers R2/L2. It's seemingly impossible to sit the controller down while watching a movie without press a trigger. Therefore going into fast forward. Happens nearly every day. By far the most frustrating design on the controller.I love the headphone jack though. I use that on a regular basis. I like the share button and the option button layout. The touchpad could just be a regular button for all I care. It's useful when games program it as the map button.
This IS a real Sony PS4 controller.. I put almost 4 years of usage on my controller in only one year, then I started to have an issue with my games turning or moving to the left every few seconds.. this was due to how much I've played with and used my original controller.Now I have my new one.. and I'm proud to be able to say that it works just as you'd expect it to.. don't feel any doubt that you will get some aftermarket knockoff. This is the real deal I was sent, and the price left me with a reason to smile.I'm very happy with my purchase.Edit of my last review.. Giving 4 instead of 5 stars.Now i think i can understand why so many people were being so critical of this controller.Only a few days after i left my review, i am now having the same issue with my NEW controller.. Only instead of my games moving or walking to the LEFT ( old controller ), now it ( the new controller ) moves FORWARD without me touching the joystick.I've had my new controller for ONLY 1 month, but now I'm starting to question if this controller is in fact, a reconditioned or ( rebuilt ) unit being sold as NEW. Not having problems with any of the other buttons or the life of the battery ( holds a charge well ).Think its sad that i'm being forced to change my original review.But i can only give it a total of 4 stars now.
The DualShock 4 is the greatest controller ever created. It corrects the deficiencies in the DS3 and takes a few design cues from the only thing Microsoft ever did right in gaming: The Xbox 360 controller. Of course it's my opinion, but do some research if you're choosing a console solely on it's controller...Sony is the right choice.How the controller looks is the only variable; you want traditional black, something more over the top, something elegant,etc?... That is the only thing you're going to ever have to worry about with this controller.I bought the Magma Red for variety, usually I prefer darker colors for controllers but my Holy Grail color "Steel Black" has been discontinued for quite awhile. The difference in the shades if red between the top plastic and the grip area is actually very cool, giving it a nice look. I also have a Crystal, Midnight Blue and the new CU2 black w/grey buttons & sticks vs. the original CU1 black that was all black with no "light bar" cut out to see the color of the light up front.Every DS4 I have is solid, keeps it's original feel with the triggers and buttons and after numerous drops (I can get butterfingers late at night playing whilst tired) I've never had any problems or breaks.Highly recommended. PC gamers can use a DS4 as well using a Bluetooth receiver. Drivers are available on Sony's website and elsewhere online.
When reviewing this controller in all comes down to the look. As an official Sony product it connected, felt and preformed the same as the one that came with my PlayStation.So how does it look? Fairly cool. It's not as bright as the blue camo one but it's also not so dark that it looks like a solid color from a few feet away. The colors on the controller jump out at you and when the kids friends are over they quickly notice it. The reactions range from what's that to this thing is (insert word the kids are using for cool these days).If your only debating purchasing this controller based on the color, I would suggest you go for it. It's an official Sony product so you don't have to worry about it not working or getting a cheapo knock off and it does really look cool. Just got this controller and already acting up. The right analog stick before even engaged it kept trigger the right side causes camera view in games keep spinning in circles toward right side. Tried to contact Sony the website listed here not going to work. So I google the contact information. Chatted with the troubleshooters two different times, both tried to blame the system has issues. Did all kind of troubleshooting like restart console, reset reconnect controller with wifi router unplugged, system data rebuilding from safe mode yet still no help and no where to get this resolve.Save yourself time do the reset and troubleshooting with yourself and if not working then reach out with Amazon directly.
The controller is beautiful!!!!! It is a standard controller but with much more attractive coloring/style. I love this one and the berry blue edition. My favorite PS4 controllers to date. No issues with it after weeks of usage.I'm pretty sure other reviews that state theirs don't work or die rapidly have owners that fell for the old E-Bay scam of bait and switch. Display a picture of the item you want, but get the one you don't. Just like most products, check the seller reviews and if there are none, don't buy from them or be ready to accept consequences of getting scammed. It would be easy to rip out the internals of the controller and swap them with an older/broken model (that's how I fixed my 20th anniversary PS4 controller) and then sell it on Amazon to make back the money lost. Just saying, buyer beware if it's not sold/shipped by Amazon.

You can connect multiple Dual Shock 4 controllers in Windows via bluetooth (I have two running I've seen videos with 4 running) and use a simple program to have them recognize as XBox controllers (which have native Windows support). So why the DS4 over the XBox controller? Because the DS4 has motion control that can be used in some games and a touchpad. Plus, they are light and super comfortable to use for long gaming sessions and the buttons and sticks and d-pads are all perfectly responsive.The XBox controllers are superior if you like the analog stick symmetrical with the buttons instead of with the other analog stick (which is a huge deal to some gamers) and comes with a replaceable battery pack/batteries - the DS4 battery is not swappable, so if you run out of juice you have to put it in a charger and stop playing or play by wire over USB. I have never drained the DS4 battery in a single session, but YMMV.
Received this controller today and i was a bit disheartened when i tried connecting the controller using the normal usb method. It was charging just not connecting.However, i do know the ps4 can connect bluetooth devices and i know how to set the ps4 controllers in discovery mode (pc gaming), so i tried that way. When i put it into discovery mode the ps4 picked it up as Duelshock 4 and when i connected it it worked perfectly fine after connecting it that way. Turns on the ps4 no problem, handles like a controller should. So if you want to purchase this controller and have the same issue i did, just press and hold the Share button and the PS button to put it in discovery mode. It will rapidly flash, then on the Ps4 go to settings > devices> bluetooth devices and the ps4 will search for bluetooth device. you should be able to connect right away
Awesome, I love these controllers. They're not perfect, but they're really good controllers. I got the red and camo controllers and they're very high quality and feel great to use especially when they're brand new. After using them for awhile the soft texture begins to rub off, and it takes a slicker surface feel, but it's not a problem for me at all. The dual analogue sticks will begin to get a little lose after several months and will lose accuracy after about a year or so, while the buttons will start to stick and lose their sensitivity after about a year or so. That being said they last a rather long time and the battery life is good compared to the old models. When they start to die I don't mind buying new replacements, because when you buy em new they last much longer, and have retained much of their durability.
Lives up to the classic Dual Shock from the original Playstation. Definitely a bit bigger than the original (as I obviously have slightly bigger hands than I did when I was 18, and the DS4 feels girthier than I remember the DS being). But it's still comfortable to hold and has good weight distribution. I bought it to use when playing old games on my computer with emulators, and while it takes a little tinkering in Windows to get it to work, it does so great. The only issue I've had is keeping it paired in Bluetooth, but I think that might be an issue with my dongle and not with the controller (as the dongle is several years old). So I've mostly stuck to using it plugged directly into a USB port.Actually, one small thing to note is that when I go into Discord, it thinks the mic on the remote is my headset mic, even though I have the controller disabled in sound settings. A little annoying when I'm about to raid and my guild can't hear me. But simply unplugging from the USB port solves the problem. Again - this is probably more an issue with Windows than it is with the controller.
This is the best PC game controller ever made, and it isn't even a PC game controller. It is basically useless on it's own, out of the box, but in conjunction with Steam, is unfreakingbelievable.Hook it up to your computer, pair it, open Steam, go Settings > Controller > General controller settings, check "PS4 Configuration Support", profit. You can set up unique profiles for different games by clicking a game in your library and then clicking "Controller Settings" on the far right of the window. You can add non-Steam games (or any application) to Steam and set up profiles for them, also.This also works for XBOX One controllers, and provides the same AND FAR MORE functionality that you get when you spend $150 on one of those Elite hunksa junks.That said, get a PS4 controller. The mousepad is actually ridiculously usable for some things (like being a mouse), and the gyro sensors make flying and driving like..... extremely much more enjoyable.If you haven't heard about it, give it a whack. I'm spreading the gospel.
These controllers are pretty cheap but they work decently and they feel pretty good as well, the thing that really sucks about them is how poor their battery life is. A long gaming session into a day this thing might not actually last through, if you plan on using this controller for long periods of time are you forget to plug it in at night you're going to have to use a battery pack charger or some such to give it power. Comparing this to another Bluetooth wireless controller that I have, such as the Wii U Pro controller, it is pathetic. The Wii U pro controllers battery life is about 80 hours which is insane well this controllers battery life is maybe 8 hours.
I first encountered the DualShock 4 controller when I was playing on my PS4 and it was great.Lightweight, great response time, love the LEDs that change colors , touchpad is also good and triggers are responsive enough for feedback.Now I switched back to PC gaming and this is great. I'm running it with "DS4Windows" which is a 3rd party app to make the DS4 controller work on Windows. It's great! you can use it either wired or wireless and charge from PC with the micro-usb cable it comes with.I played WWE 2k18, NBA2k18, COD: WWII, and South Park with it. So far- great! Highly recommend if you use controllers for PC gaming.
Authentic is the best way to go! Just be careful with the joysticks. I would let mine fall on the floor and think nothing of it and leave it there, and being so careless is why I needed a new controller. In all my games the character or whatever would move on its own because the joysticks were bent / damaged in the direction of when they were sitting on the ground lifted up / down and there's no way to fix it. Now I'm much more aware and careful and it's been a perfect experience. Hopefully others can learn from my user error, you think I would have known that!
Oh my goodness....If I knew what I know now I would of never invested in Steams controller for my computer! Thank goodness for grandson's input because I would of never know any different. I originally purchased the Steam controller and I will admit it does do what it claims to do...unfortunately PS controllers rule. With my Steam controller I had to jump through hoops to get it set up to something I was comfortable with and it did not always respond as I had set it up to do. When I first started using the PS4 controller I found the buttons to be a bit much however with a bit of endurance it is like second nature now. The easy of the control of things is exceptionally well designed and I don't have to put batteries in constantly as I did on the Steam controller. I will state that even though I find this controller far exceeds my Steam controller that on extremely rare occasion the controller will divert back to what Steam believes are the best setting yet this is easily resolved by rebooting the controller.
This is the best console controller imo. Compare to the previous models the new one is way lighter. Doesn't feel heavy at all. Thumbsticks have a better feel and doesn't feel as loose as the older model. The triggers not as clicky as the old model. The touch pad and light bar are somewhat more responsive if that makes sense. Overall i would recommend this controller over the previous model and idk compared to other pro/3rd party controllers though.
